October 26, 1944 Davenport Times-Tribune

Alvin Stangland writes his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Stangland, that he is at San Diego. He entered the navy October 10 and is a member of the 1944 Reardan high school class.

January 1, 1945 Davenport Times-Tribune

Alvin Stangland, seaman second class, left Sunday night after spending a leave here with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Stangland. He just graduated from boot camp at San Diego, Calif. He is a graduate of the local high school and entered the service in October.

Alvin E. Stangland, seaman second class, who recently completed his boot training at San Diego, Calif., is attending a radio school at San Diego. He is a graduate of the Reardan high school and is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Stangland.

September 27, 1945 Davenport Times-Tribune

Alvin Stangland, Seaman 2/c, who entered the service a year ago, informs his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Stangland, that he is stationed at Manila studying radio. He went overseas in July. Pvt. Frank Titchenal writes his mother, Mrs. Louise Titchenal, that he is at Manila. He went into the service in February and is with the infantry. Pvt. Titchenal and Seaman Stangland are cousins.
